International Education Day: Social and economic factors affecting the society

Education is a basic human right, a public good, a public responsibility, and also the best investment that one can make to ensure a sustainable future and leave no one behind.However, millions are still deprived of educational opportunities every day, because of social, cultural and economic factors.January 24 is marked as the International Day of Education by the United Nations General Assembly to celebrate the role of education for bringing peace and development.Quality education is important in order to achieve sustainable development including gender equality and human rights and to break the cycle of poverty.According to the official site of UNESCO, 262 million children and youth still do not attend school.
