On March 15th, Altium LLC, announced the launch of its Electronic Design Program, Altium Education. The program is a free online certification program aimed at college and university students. The practical course gives students a foundation in electronics. It will enable them to design their first PCB, or printed circuit board.

“Understanding prototyping skills is a necessary step for Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) students. Altium Education’s course provides the perfect introduction to PCB design that I need to help prepare my students for advanced engineering courses. All of our engineering students should take this web-based curriculum.”

- Siddharth Deliwala, Director, ESE Lab Programs, School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania

The course comes with a free license for Altium Designer, the leading ECAD software by Altium. The course curriculum covers focused learning of schematics, manufacturing, and design layout. It also comes with an educator’s guide to support professors and teachers.

“Our mission with Altium Education is to provide college-level curriculum and professional tools that introduces students to the art, science, and technology involved in the design of printed circuit boards. Our hope with Altium Education is to build and expand the talent in the world of electronics design.”

- Rea Callender, Vice President of Education
