From Offline to Online to Inline Learning

May 31, 2018

Most training and learning efforts are based on a collection of competencies, supported by a curriculum and catalogue that gets scheduled on calendar-based interest and availability. But what does that have to do with helping the company’s business strategy, responding to shifting market demands and intervening to fix emergent needs when they arise? All of the above situations and more planned or unplanned come up throughout a business year. And, your sales team’s ability to execute or respond to the situation can be the difference in making or missing your year. But none of these situations lend themselves to the traditional way learning programs are deployed at many companies, which rely on bulky catalogs of content waiting for someone to raise their hand to schedule a training event. The future of learning and development will need to be as nimble as the business. Which puts a whole new set of demands on the library of competencies and the modality of delivery.
