Next Generation Platform for Hybrid, Hyflex, and Online Learning

The past 18 months have forced educators to navigate the tug-of-war between digital and physical learning solutions in the technological blink of an eye. Schools have since accelerated the adoption of cloud computing to deploy online learning tools affordably and sustainably, moving away from legacy and locally-hosted systems and services. Ambitions for ‘cloud eventually’ evolved almost overnight to ‘cloud now’. And just as the cloud empowers schools to expand beyond the classroom, the metaverse has emerged as a potential new space for making teaching and learning more engaging. So, does this herald the arrival of the ‘eduverse’? This panel of education thought leaders explores how education providers can leverage cloud-enabled solutions now and tomorrow, and what the growth of the metaverse might mean for the future of education.

This presentation invites educators to consider preconceived notions about what emerging readers are capable of doing, as they grow into reading with confidence and competence.

Currently, personalized learning is seen as a large umbrella under which many practices fit, each designed to accelerate student learning by tailoring instruction to individuals' needs and skills as they fulfill curricular requirements. We must create the conditions for all educators and students to become immersed in learning experiences in which they have some control over the pursuit: access to information and ideas; regular opportunities for feedback and guidance; and parameters (e.g., sufficient time, clear criteria) that honor the messiness of the work.

In this session we will take a closer look at the third goal: Justice. We will define what justice looks like in early childhood spaces and discuss the educator’s role in recognizing children’s innate sense of empathy and fairness. We will also discuss ways to nurture each child’s ability to identify injustice.
