How to build mentor systems for STEM teachers

Across the United States, many schools face the same problem, year after year: finding math and science teachers. One of the solutions to this problem is to train more teachers. The other solution is to retain educators that are already in the system. Could connecting these educators to mentors ensure they stay in the profession? To help increase teacher retention rates, the I-STEM Resource Network created a network of STEM mentor teachers in 11 Indiana school districts. Throughout 2018 in partnership with other states and 100Kin10, they worked to create a STEM Mentoring Framework. That framework provides a clear guide to others looking to build mentor teacher programs.
