On March 8th, mobile technology distribution and services firm Tekmovil, announced that it is expanding its partnership with the Brighter Children Organization, a non-profit that champions educational initiatives for elementary-aged school children living in impoverished communities. The announcement comes on the heels of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month.
Tekmovil pledged to support the education of girls at a Brighter Children partner school in Santa Maria, Colombia. The sponsorship covered school tuition in full for 20 girls. This year, the donation will support 20 more students by sponsoring school tuition fees at a partner school in Honduras. It will also cover the cost of the increase in tuition for the students sponsored in Colombia, as well as their living costs and school supplies.
"We know the impact a good education has in breaking barriers for children in impoverished areas, and with that in mind, we wanted to extend our partnership with Brighter Children. Our hope with this partnership is that we not only give these children the opportunity to continue learning but also open the doors of possibility for them. Through our continued support, along with other sponsors, Brighter Children can continue to change lives. We believe the best way to stop the cycle of poverty is to support children in their education. Developing future leaders through educational skills will allow them to overcome barriers and turn dreams into reality."
