Kaltura Acquires Newrow to Expand Video Collaboration Suite for Education

Kaltura, a New York-based provider of video collaboration tools used by education, government and corporate institutions, has acquired Newrow, a developer of similar products. Terms of the deal were not disclosed in the press release. Founded in 2006, Kaltura offers a suite of cloud-based video technologies used across different industries. In education, the company’s products are used to record lectures, add captions and other interactive elements to videos, and deliver them to student devices and class websites. The company claims it serves more than 500 educational institutions, including Columbia Business School, Stanford and Purdue University. Based in South Plainfield, N.J., Newrow’s offerings include video conferencing software, a digital whiteboard, and tools for creating online courses, webinars and quizzes. The company was founded in 2016, and its customers range from Caterpillar to Thomas Reuters and the University of South Florida.
