The initiative is part of Google’s Arts and Culture website. Learners can take expeditions across timelines and geographies. Sandbox AR Created by Discovery Education, the Sandbox AR app provides a comprehensive AR experience that lets students build a virtual world in any room. This allows for educators to move classes and take interactive sessions. For instance, students can discover the wonders of ancient Rome in a school auditorium. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer hasn’t announced whether classrooms will be allowed to reopen, but districts across the state are already planning to keep classrooms closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The widespread shift to virtual instruction could accelerate the state’s long-running push to offer more education online, a move with enormous but uncertain implications for students.
