eLearning question templates are useful for more than just eLearning assessments. In fact, these eLearning development short-cuts are great for mapping out your branching scenario and keeping track of the outcomes. But there are some tricks to repurposing pre-built layouts for your current branching scenario. These 7 tips can help you create more effective branching scenarios using eLearning question templates. The first question lays the foundation for your entire branching scenario. Depending on which eLearning template you use, it either appears at the top, with paths emanating downward or at the bottom, with various decision-making routes sprouting up. Whatever the case, this introductory question sets the tone and tells online learners what to expect. For example, prefaces the query with a sentence or two that describes the problem or challenge. Then asks online learners what they do in the situation to achieve the best outcome. There will be numerous questions to follow, but this initial step sets them down the right, or wrong, path. So make it count. For more involved branching scenarios, a detailed description may be in order. Incorporate a more elaborate intro before the first line of questioning to avoid learner confusion. As an example, describe the work environment or company policy that has a direct impact on the situation.

We’ve been hard at work studying what’s required from the modern leader to be successful. Through 35,000 assessments and hundreds of interviews, we discovered the most important job a leader has today is to elevate others. To do so requires the simultaneous use of high levels of love and discipline. From our research, we created the EO Framework designed around 16 proven competencies (8 love and 8 discipline). John Eades, LearnLoft CEO and host of the Follow My Lead Podcast, has turned our research into a book, Elevate Others: The New Model to Successfully Lead Today set to be released in 2019. The only way to get the EO Framework before then and gain access to our EOCs (Elevating Others Coaches) is to partner with us to create a EO Leadership Development Program at your company or attend the Ultimate Leadership Academy for individuals.
