4 Most Common Types of Learning Cultures

Researchers have known for decades that different people have different learning styles, distinct ways in which a learner absorbs, processes, and retains information. For example, it is widely recognized that some people are more visual learners, while others are more auditory or kinesthetic experiential learners However, a person’s preferred mode of learning is only one half of the equation. Successful learning not only needs to take into account the individual’s preferred modes of learning, but also the context in which learning occurs. Just as there is variation in the way individuals learn, there is variation in the policies and attitudes that organizations take toward learning. These policies and attitudes affect the organization’s overall learning culture, and variation in them leads to different types of culture.
